undereye/undercover

you know, in the process of removing my lenses this evening, i made the grave mistake of taking a good look at the circles below my eyes. and then thinking about them, about what they are.

according to miss bliss, online beauty advice guru, undereye circles are caused by blood pooling in the vessels beneath your eyes while you sleep, made more prominent by the fact that the skin there is thinner than anywhere else on the body. made doubly worse during allergy and cold season, because blocked sinuses exacrbate the problem.

i'm sorry, i don't like to think of my blood pooling anywhere.

not in an alley, not in my kitchen sink, and most certainly not below my eyes. just the thought of a pool of blood anywhere gives me the howling fantods. and not in that good way, either.
