sharp like a stuffed bunny.

apologies for the serious lack of edge around these parts lately. it's inexcusable, really, because there are still women who insist on wearing sunglasses on the subway.

HEY LADIES:

if you are compos mentis enough to apply estee lauder, '3-d' lips, you are NOT hungover enough to merit wearing last season's amber-colored, wraparound faux prada sunglasses in a place where the only light source is a sad, flickering fluorescent bulb. i don't care how bad ass and sexy you think you look; when your need to look like donatella versace impairs your vision to the point that you do things like step on your fellow commuters' feet or fail to see little old ladies tottering over to the seats you daintily sit upon, you need to stop and swing around your priorities. or someday, someone is going to take your express design studio glasses and shove them up your ass.

love,
shiv.

and you know, that's what i would say, if i could just stop talking about stupid shit like love and stuff. i'll do better in the future.

Gleep! I didn't mean for you to remove & invalidate all your happy bunny & butterfly musings...I mean, I like 'em and stuff, and they're valid, too. I've just been wanting to puke on someone's...ANYone's boots for DAYS! ;-)

hee! boot puking is an underrated pleasure, i will definitely agree with that!

peachface, what's your story? where you been? drop me a line and fill me in, yo.

While I log on daily to see what edgy things you're going to say next...I liked the post about the wedding. Love does that you know, turns the edgiest of us into warm hearted softies. It did it to me...and I sort of love it to pieces.

you'll do better in the future? sorry raindog, not if I have my way... Come over and get that cd we promised you btw...

Aw, c'mon, Shiv...Put back what you took away. Ya know I was just takin' the piss, and I, above all, have NO room to chastise others for being sentimental. Besides, it was well-written. (And Mr. Sam, you must know that it makes me happy to see the Shivvy-Lady happy. And I'd love to come get that CD anytime. More in my e-missive to Shiv later.)

DJRD - I know it, captain. ;-) Now, c'mon over, cos we're lining up some gigs for Nov. That happy bunny Shiv'll tell all...

I visited your fair city several years ago along with my wife, my daughter, and my parents. One morning my dad and I had to take the subway, and our reactions differed.

Dad: the subway is ugly and graffiti-ridden.

Son: this was great! we didn't get mugged or anything!

Even with my positive reaction, I didn't see the New York subway (or, for that matter, any subway in the U.S.) as the place for people to show off their sunglass fashions. Last I checked, subways were underground by definition, so sunglasses don't serve any functional purpose for sober folks (as you note). Perhaps someone will come up with a stupid "urban design" concept (sunglasses that look like heat-seeking goggles, perhaps?).

P.S. Good luck on the passport. I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have an original copy of my birth certificate and had to get a passport. Thank you, parents.
